Lunes Oña

he/they

Hi! I'm Lunes Oña, a trans Cuban-Spaniard documentarian, editor, and creative director based in Miami. Raised in a Cuban household in Madrid, I later lived in Panama before settling in Miami in 2017. I started Always Lunes in 2019 as my personal art page.

In Black History Month 2020, I started Artist Highlights featuring Black South Florida creatives, which evolved into a broader initiative for local artists everywhere featuring over 130 artists nationwide. In 2022, I created the What’s Up? South Florida calendar to promote DIY events, becoming the main community platform for underground events in our region, recognized by Miami New Times as 'Best Instagram of Miami' in 2023.

I developed a passion for filmmaking as a teen in Panama. In 2023, I began my debut documentary film, Hijos de la Diáspora (60 min), which explores the latest generations of the global Cuban diaspora. It premiered in May 2024 and has been showcased at the Tower Theater, FIU and Barry University, among others. It is currently being screened across Miami.
